Another Lost Cat

Another missing cat! Tink escaped her home on 5/16. She is mostly gray, some white and long-haired. She may be scared but very friendly. She’ s a new kitty to the neighborhood. Last seen near the north end of 136th Ave E. Please call her owners if you have seen her. 253-820-2580 or 206-992-2577

Bobcat seen in the neighborhood again

Recently I have received information about multiple sightings of a Bobcat in our Neighborhood. While Bobcats do not normally bother humans, they can pose great risks to our pets.

While I do not have any recent pictures of the Bobcat, here is one from my files.

“Louis” is missing!

Missing cat! Louis the cat has been missing since Thursday 5/14, his owners are very worried about him. Louis lives in Sunrise Terrace near 138th Ave Ct E/117th St. He is light gray color with a black tail. He does not have his collar on since he lost it recently and he is not microchipped. He’s a very sweet, affectionate cat who loves belly rubs and attention. He likes to visit neighbors and people walking on 136th Ave E.

The Value of a CCTV Camera System

Tonight I found a clip from KIRO7 in Seattle which showed graphically the value of having good CCTV cameras at your home. A couple was able to watch, in real time, burglars targeting their home. The owners dialed 911 and the police were able to catch the men as they walked out of the home. Copy the link below and paste it into your browser.

An Unexpected Visitor

This morning my “Ring” doorbell kept pinging my phone, telling me that there was someone at my door. I used the app to check but could not see anyone. Finally I opened my door and found a beautiful medium haired, cream colored cat with mocha spots on his body and mocha stripes on his legs. He had a shorter than normal tail, hinting perhaps a Manx was somewhere in his ancestry.

When I opened the door he simply stepped into the house and proceeded to tour the place. He went everywhere; smelled everything. Finally after looking in the washroom, he left me a small present in the hall, then he started to vocalize softly. I took him back to the front door , opened it, and he left.

Unfortunately I did not think to get a picture of him, but he was wearing a collar. I think the name was “Louis” and I was unable to read what was on the other side of the tag.

“Louis” was both friendly and beautiful. I hope the owner finds him and keeps him inside. I personally have seen a bear, many coyotes and a Bobcat in my yard. I would hate for “Louis” to end up as a snack for the predators in our area.

As a final note: If “Louis” shows up on my doorstep again I am very tempted to buy some Kitty Litter and keep “Louis”. He is a beautiful cat.

Bobcat across the valley

On the ring app I was alerted to a sighting of a Bobcat across the valley from us. It is probably the same Bobcat which has appeared several times over here, but it could also be a new animal. Anyway we know that Bobcats are in the area, so be careful about letting your pets out.

Death of a Neighbor

Mail Thieves Are Active All Year

The other day I was on 111th Ave E between 128th St E and 122nd St E when I saw a man picking up mail which had been scattered on the ground. I stopped and asked him what had happened and he pointed to a row of mailboxes on the other side of the street, with their lids open. He said one of those boxes belonged to his daughter and he had found some of her mail in the pieces he was picking up.

Mail thieves are active all year and right now they are looking for IRS filings or refund checks. Please make their jobs harder by picking up your mail as soon as you can and do not put out mail after the Postman has passed for the day. If you have important mail, take it to the Post Office and drop it inside.

Dog Chasing Deer

Today a large dog chased a deer through my backyard. This was not OK!

I have never seen this dog in the Neighborhood, however it may belong to someone who has just moved in.
