Working in the yard I observed this small vehicle paused on 136th Ave East and taking notes for 2 or 3 minutes. The car then drove north out of sight. A few minutes later the same vehicle drove out of the neighborhood slowly and suspiciously. We will be watching.

Help for our Neighbors in the time of Covid-19
My name is Julie Hrivnak. My phone number is 253-279-7355, and my email address on hotmail is jewelsriv@hotmail.com.
I would like to help out the elderly in our Sunrise neighborhood.
As I am sure everyone is aware the Governor has issued a stay at home order. This is especially important for our elderly, or immuno-compromised populace. I am sure a lot of you have friends and family that will do a good job looking out for you and getting supplies that you need. I would like to offer my name , number and email for anyone in our neighborhood to reach out to me with any of your needs. Can I make a grocery run for any of you? Can I talk you through setting up online grocery delivery? Think you may be sick and don’t know what the next steps are? Anything I can do to help you stay in and away from the germs please reach out. Any interaction we have will be at a distance via phone or a porch drop off. I do work in healthcare and don’t want to expose anyone to anything. I also don’t want anyone putting themselves at risk for a little food or toilet paper. If I can help you I will.
If you are healthy and would like to offer me any help with this endeavor that would be appreciated and I can be contacted at the above number and email. Stay well.
Car Theft 122nd & Shaw Rd.
Last night I got a notification on my “Ring” network that a red 1967 Chevrolet Corvette, WA Collector Plate Number 58139 was stolen from the vicinity of 122nd and Shaw Rd. This is very near our Neighborhood. Below is the full notice:The police are asking for the public’s help by checking their Security Cameras for the red Corvette. There was no picture in the “Ring” post. I checked our neighborhood cameras from 12:36 PM to 2:19 PM on the 13th and did not find any Corvette.
Mail & Package Thefts – AGAIN!!
Any of you who have a “Ring” doorbell have probably noticed an increase in mail and package theft being reported. In several instances when prowlers noticed the “Ring” camera they made an abrupt turn and left. I have to wonder how many saw other security cameras mounted and never even approached the house where they would have been picked up by the “Ring”camera.
Most of the mail thefts appear to have happened at night, but package thefts normally occur during the day. Unfortunately it is a fact of modern life that many houses are vacant during the day because all of the adults work. That is when these sorry excuses for human beings come visiting to steal items you have worked to purchase.
In previous post I have made recommendations for avoiding being a victim of these thieves. You might go back and review these.
Officer Cooper Dyson – Additional Information
Julie and Jim Zanner have sent this information about Officer Cooper Dyson and his parents; and would like to share it with the community.
There has been at least one sheriff car by their driveway on vigil for 24/7 since the accident, I believe they will be there for a few more days. We have spoken to the officers on duty and took coffee etc. My daughter, on Shawnee, saw on Facebook where you can donate to help the family. Cooper’s wife has a 3 yr old son, and she is expecting a baby girl in less than 2 weeks.
If anyone would like to help the family, they can go to the Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers website and donate. We have already donated some money already, and at this website we specified that the money go to the Cooper Dyson family.
Officer Cooper Dyson
Early this last Saturday morning, the 21st of December, Officer Cooper Dyson died tragically while on duty. Cooper’s parents, Brad and Casey Dyson live on our street, 136th Ave E. Friends of their family are asking neighbors of the Dyson family to show support by replacing their porch light with a blue light. Blue is associated with the law enforcement profession. Lowe’s, Home Depot, and McLendon’s have donated blue bulbs and many neighbors were contacted today. If you weren’t reached, there are extra bulbs at the home of the Floods, 11722 136th Ave. E. Feel free to drop by, holiday or not. It is an important way for us to demonstrate support for a valued family of the neighborhood and community.
Please Come! Neighborhood Meeting. Important Guest Speaker.
Sunrise Terrace Neighbors,
Please come to the annual neighborhood meeting this Tuesday, Oct. 22, 7pm, at Sunrise Baptist Church. We just got confirmation that a deputy from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office will be a guest speaker. He will update us on changes in the department and a new code enforcement program. He is familiar with our neighborhood issues. Bring your questions and concerns about safety. We will also get a brief update on sr162.org. Meet your neighbors, enjoy some cookies, and vote for new board members. We suggest a $5/household donation to the neighborhood fund.
SAVE THE DATE — NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING
Tuesday, October 22, 7-8:30pm, in the Fellowship Hall at Sunrise Baptist Church for our annual neighborhood meeting.
Vandalism in Crystal Ridge Estates
Last night (3 Sept.) I received an alert that occupants of a vehicle somewhere near the intersection of Crystal Ridge Dr. SE and 39th St. SE had shot out the window of a vehicle. The persons in the vehicle shown below had used a BB gun of some sort to do this act of vandalism. Unfortunately even though the reporter provided a picture of the vehicle used in the crime, it was not clear enough to distinguish the passengers. However the strange white markings on the right rear wheel make it very distinctive thus easy to recognize.
I have been monitoring the crime situation in our area and there a lot of car prowls and package thefts happening. If at all possible, put your vehicle in a locked area at night and have someone at home when you are expecting a package. Of course having someone at home will not guarantee that you will not lose a package to a thief. In one incident I know of the package was on the porch less then 3 minutes before it was stolen. Obviously by thieves who were following the delivery truck.
Notice of Tehaleh Road visiability meeting
The following POST is a meeting announcement requested by Wayne Reibold.
I wanted to see if anyone in Sunrise Terraces is interested in meeting with a Tehaleh rep and some SR162Traffic.org people this Friday 10 am at the Legendary Donuts in Orting. I attend meetings to represent Sunrise Terraces but cannot make the meeting this Friday.
The discussion is about trying to get Tehaleh to disguise the new FIVE LANE ROAD Tehaleh is building down the plateau from Tehaleh to SR162 to meet it at 128th. The road will go down the hill at a diagonal from south to north and be very visible from Sunrise Terraces homes that have views of the valley and Mt Rainier.
We have met with Pierce County who will be building the road to try and get them to include tall trees to try and disguise it, paint the tall street lamps green to blend vs silver, etc but so far the County says they can’t do special things like this, that they have a standard way of building roads. But that isn’t to say Tehaleh can’t help with landscaping since this road will be a main entrance to Tehaleh so they should want the landscaping to look nice. The road is expected to open within five years.
Anyone interested should contact Maxine at mherberthill@hotmail.com so we don’t get too many people showing up to the meeting.
Anyone is free to contact me at WynsWrld98@yahoo.com with questions as well.
Thanks,
Wayne Reibold
