An Unexpected Visitor

This morning my “Ring” doorbell kept pinging my phone, telling me that there was someone at my door. I used the app to check but could not see anyone. Finally I opened my door and found a beautiful medium haired, cream colored cat with mocha spots on his body and mocha stripes on his legs.  He had a shorter than normal tail, hinting perhaps a Manx was somewhere in his ancestry.

When I opened the door he simply stepped into the house and proceeded to tour the place.  He went everywhere; smelled everything. Finally after looking in the washroom, he left me a small present in the hall, then he started to vocalize softly. I took him back to the front door , opened it, and he left.

Unfortunately I did not think to get a picture of him, but he was wearing a collar.  I think the name was “Louis” and I was unable to read what was on the other side of the tag.

“Louis” was both friendly and beautiful.  I hope the owner finds him and keeps him inside. I personally have seen a bear, many coyotes and a Bobcat in my yard.  I would hate for “Louis” to end up as a snack for the predators in our area.

As a final note:  If “Louis” shows up on my doorstep again I am very tempted to buy some Kitty Litter and keep “Louis”.  He is a beautiful cat.

This is “Louis”.  A neighbor sent me his picture.

Tragic Death of Kim & Bette Nordberg

Below is an excerpt from a newspaper report on the death of our neighbors Kim and Bette Nordberg of 11323 136th Ave E, Puyallup 98374. It is a sickening read.

A woman who allegedly killed two people in a car crash was ‘more concerned with retrieving her vape’ from the wreckage than for the victims, per court documents.
Michelle Renee Oster, 63, has been charged with causing two deaths and seriously injuring two more people amid a grisly collision in Washington earlier this month.
Prosecutors said Oster was ‘annoyed and dismissive’ at the scene of the crash, according to court documents seen by King5.com, and was even ‘in a hurry to get home’ after the fatal collision.
‘She appeared more concerned with retrieving her vape pen from her vehicle than the state of the victims,’ the documents read.
Oster allegedly ploughed into a vehicle on Southeast Enumclaw Chinook Road east of Seattle, killing Kim Davis Nordberg, 72, of Lakebay and his wife Bette Nordberg, 69, of Puyallup, on the morning of October 13.

Better Pictures of Bobcat

I received these pictures from a neighbor.  She said “The bobcat has been coming to our house quite a bit now. We always take our dog out on a leash. The bobcat comes up to our slider and wags its tail when our dog barks at it. “

It appears that our Neighborhood Bobcat has become quite accustom to humans.  This is not a good thing. Remember it is a wild animal and use great care if it is around. Always have your animals on a leash when you are out with them. Lets enjoy looking at our Bobcat , but don’t try to touch it.

PS: This time when I sent out notices I got the warning on my copy that “This may be a Phishing message”.  In my case you can ignore the message, but be vigilant for real phishing messages. (KH)

Yes We Have a Bobcat!!!!

Yesterday a neighbor sent me some great pictures of our neighborhood Bobcat hanging out in their yard. The Bobcat lay in their yard for about 10 minutes before walking off.  When I received these pictures I checked with Google Images and it returned pictures of  Bobcats in the US. I guess this put to rest any doubts we may have had about the correct identification of the animal. Anyone with small dogs or cats might consider making them into strictly indoor pets.

WARNING!!! — Scam Calls

This morning my daughter received a call.  When she answered she was quickly asked : “Are you there?” The obvious aim was to have her answer “Yes”.  If she had done so, instead of hanging up quickly, bad things might have started happening to her. These scammers want to record you saying “Yes” so they can charge you for all kinds of stuff, or do other bad things.

If you get such a call — HANGE UP IMMEDIATELY.

Do we have Bears in the Neighborhood again?

One of my neighbors was walking down Jennifer Court and spotted what he thought was bear scat.  He sent me a picture and it looked the same as the Bear scat we found in the Neighborhood several years ago. It appears that the scat consists mostly of the remains of cherries.  Since as far as  I know, we do not have cherry trees around here, if they are cherries they must have come from someone’s home.

I have added the picture I was sent.  If you have an opinion that it is something other than Bear scat, feel free to let me know at kahalljr@comcsast.net.

Addendum: A Neighbor texted me with the information that they have a cherry tree in their backyard and the last time  we had a bear in the Neighborhood it was eating from their cherry tree.  The scat looked the same as below.

Bobcat den in our area?

My next-door neighbors saw a much smaller version of the bobcat I saw several weeks ago.  Did not get a picture though. The bobcats may have established a den nearby and are raising a litter. Now we appear to have cayotes and Bobcats looking for a meal in our neighborhood.  Take care of your cats and small dogs.

For those who did not see it.  Here is the photo I got previously of the adult Bobcat.
