Fire Danger!

It is almost the 4th of July and we have not had any rain to speak of in weeks.  Things are very dry folks.  That means when people set off fireworks, their chances of starting a wildfire are very good.

It would be a good idea this 4th if people in our Neighborhood kept a hose ready in case a stray spark landed near their house.

Vandalism in the Neighborhood

Recently we had an incidence of vandalism in the Neighborhood.  The brave vandal came around at 30 minutes after midnight and made a second pass through the Neighborhood at 38 minutes past midnight. He cruised down 136th turned down 117th toured 138th, then up to 136th, right to Jennifer Court back up to 136th, down to 138th then back up and out of the Neighborhood.  According to several people who looked at the pictures  he was driving a mid 1990s two door, dark Honda Civic.  He was wearing a hoodie and what looks like basketball shorts.  His photograph is below, showing his skinny legs and beard.  If anyone has seen him please give Dav or me a call or e-mail us. This vandalism was reported to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

Thanks to all of you who gave me input for this post.

Another Extortion Attempt!

This morning in the wee hours (that translates to 0639hrs) I received a call in which a message recorded by a woman who spoke good English informed me (actually she informed whoever picked up the phone) that that after repeated attempts to reach me I was being given one last chance to avoid having the Government file a lawsuit against me.  I was to immediately  call the number they gave. {I have to wonder how they are going to file a lawsuit if they don’t even know my name.}

Thinking I could get the number from my Caller ID I simply hung up the phone.  Surprise!  My Caller ID said UNKNOWN NAME-PRIVATE CALLER. Well if nothing else, that made me certain that the caller was not from any branch of the US Government.

I’m going to post the information to the Do Not Call List  https://www.donotcall.gov/   {copy and paste this link to go directly to the National Do Not Call Registry}.  If you get a call like this I urge you to report it.

Active Covenants for Sunrise Terrace, Additions 1-10 and SE

The covenants for Sunrise Terrace were initially filed in the 1960’s, renewed in 1988, and renewed again in 2013.  They do not expire now until 2038.  As homes and vacant lots are listed for sale we want all new homeowners to be aware of our covenants.  Please pay particular attention to the covenants regarding new construction, trees, and roofs.

We have an active architectural control committee.  Neighbors meet each fall for an annual meeting. We do not charge a homeowner’s fee; we use donations to cover the cost of our meeting and mailings.  Sunrise Terrace also has a neighborhood watch program, which includes cameras, alarm systems, and communication between neighbors.

To locate covenants go to Pierce County Web Site.

  1. co.pierce.wa.us
  2. Click on government listing tab, select auditors department, recorded documents
  3. Scroll down to “search on-line”, public disclosure database, click “here”
  4. Acknowledge disclaimer
  5. Select recorded documents at top of page
  6. Enter Sunrise Terrace for party name. All documents related to properties within Sunrise Terrace are listed, including current (amended) and original versions of our covenants and maps for each addition.  To narrow search, select amend covenants.

Traffic counters on 136th Ave. E. on both sides of Shawnee Ridge Dr.

Carol Silvernail reports that traffic counters were installed by Pierce County today (9 June 2015) on 136th Avenue East on both sides of Shawnee Rd. E.  Pierce County had installed counters once earlier this year but the locations of these counters are slightly different. They will probably only be there for a few days. This is in support of our continuing effort to have a STOP sign placed at the intersection of 136th Avenue East and Shawnee Rd E.
