A problem occured with the Sunrise Terrace web site and BLOG the first week of July. This problem presented itself as the loss of our orange theme and loss of content format.
As of today, partial recovery was achieved and we continue to restore content to the site.
Wayne Reibold sent me this heads-up about a project which will greatly impact our Neighborhood.
I wonder how many people know what’s coming. Military Road/122nd St E is already scary to pull out onto during busy times will get much worse since will be main artery from Tehaleh to Puyallup/South Hill retail.
I saw a billboard for the website below while driving on the SR162 down towards Orting, thought others might find it interesting. https://sr162traffic.org/ The massive Tehaleh housing development is planning a 4-lane road to connect to the SR162 at 128th Street. Imagine what this will do to the already heavy SR162 traffic and also the traffic up the hill from SR162 along Military Road/122nd St E to Puyallup. Save the Date: Our annual Sunrise Terrace Neighborhood Meeting is Thursday, Nov. 2, 7:00pm, at Sunrise Baptist Church. Come for pumpkin pie (or maybe apple or pecan), hot apple cider, and a chance to visit with new and old neighbors. We will review the past year’s activities and concerns. Under new business we’ll discuss updating our neighborhood watch lists. $5 household donation is suggested to cover church rental. Your Architectural Control Committee always welcomes new members and we hope to see you there.

The post below got misplaced. On the theory of “better late than never”, here it is. A recent survey has shown that the practice of “cutting the corner” still exist.
I was checking the Neighborhood Cameras on 19 Nov 2015 when I noticed two trucks coming around the blind curve at 11728 136th Ave E. on the wrong side of the road, entering our Neighborhood. The time stamps show that the first truck entered the Neighborhood at 2147 hrs. and the other at 2156 hrs. (That’s 9:47 PM and 9:56 PM for you civilians).
Yes I know that at night you supposedly can see lights coming from the other direction in time to get over into your proper line, but you are betting your life on it. Not to mention the lives of whoever you might run head on into. (All for a time saving of maybe 1/2 of a second.)
Please stay in your own lane when you are coming around the blind curve. As far as I know we have never had an accident in the blind curve. Lets keep it that way!
There was an article on page 8A of the 21 Jan edition of the Tacoma News Tribune which shows that security cameras help your neighbors as well as you. Burglars broke into a home in Fife Heights and stole 4 guns and a 250 lb safe which contained a Rolex watch, financial papers and identity documents. A neighbor’s security cameras showed a dark green BMW with dark rims parked outside the burglarized house.
This case illustrates what Dav and I have been trying to get across to our neighbors. Your cameras help protect your home and they help protect the homes all around you. The Bad Guys are going to think twice about entering a home when homes on all sides of it have cameras and their actions can be seen, and recorded, from several different angles.
This byline was sent to me by a friend. It’s a stark reminder for me as the perpetrators in our neighborhood incursion were discovered and arrested in Orting!

It will be important that the neighborhood tries to keep as many attractants secured as possible.. Even if only one house has something available the bear will come to your area.. You can send out the PDF on our website here: http://wdfw.wa.gov/living/bear.pdf that tells you what they are most attracted too. Fruit trees are some of their favorite things.. but garbage is by far the biggest attractant.
