SUNRISE TERRACE NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING

May 16:  7-8 pm

Sunrise Baptist Church

Are you concerned about traffic, road safety and our view?  Do you enter and exit 122nd and Military?  Change is coming to our neighborhood because of a new county road under construction between Tahaleh and McMillin.  Come learn what the state and county plans are for our neighborhood.  You know your ACC (Architectural Control Committee) would not organize a mid-year meeting unless we thought it was really important.

Guest speaker will be from the sr162traffic.org community group.

Proposed 4 Lane Highway From Tehaleh to SR 162 to Impact 122nd St E.

Wayne Reibold sent me this heads-up about a project which will greatly impact our Neighborhood.

SR162/Military Road-122nd St E up hill from SR162 traffic from Tehaleh

I wonder how many people know what’s coming.  Military Road/122nd St E is already scary to pull out onto during busy times will get much worse since will be main artery from Tehaleh to Puyallup/South Hill retail.

I saw a billboard for the website below while driving on the SR162 down towards Orting, thought others might find it interesting. https://sr162traffic.org/ The massive Tehaleh housing development is planning a 4-lane road to connect to the SR162 at 128th Street. Imagine what this will do to the already heavy SR162 traffic and also the traffic up the hill from SR162 along Military Road/122nd St E to Puyallup. A heads up of what’s coming… There is also a Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/546488522478918/

Suspicious Activity in Our Neighborhood – We May Have A Big Problem

We may have a big problem.  I received this from one of our neighbors today: “Just a heads up… my husband today saw the vehicle pictured below driving really slow down 136th and pointing out the cameras, then they drove up Shawnee Road where he got this pic”... Washington Plate #BIX5624

Suspicious Activity Plate #BIX5624

This was a little after 3pm this afternoon…

I checked several of the Neighborhood cameras and confirmed that the vehicle did a tour of our Neighborhood. They went up 136th Ave E, around Jennifer Ct., into Shawnee Ridge and out 136th between 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM today, looking for CCTV Cameras.

Please be alert for this vehicle.  If you see it alert your neighbors.

They may be just looking, or they may be up to no good. Lets not take a chance.

I called the local Sheriff’s Office and they said the vehicle was out of Maple Valley and had expired tags. The deputy I spoke with said if we see the vehicle again call (253) 798-3278 and ask for a Deputy to respond.

Below are several pictures of the vehicle and the occupants.

Area Crime Reports

All,

In case you did not know of its existence, there is a web site which reports crime in your area.  It is not all inclusive as some police departments do not report to this site, but it gives an idea of what is happening around our area.  I say “around our area” because Puyallup does not report to this site.

Here is the short link to the main page: https://www.crimereports.com/

Below is a link which will take you directly to the area for Pierce County:

Mail Thieves Are At It Again

This morning I received the following report from one of our neighbors:

On our early morning walk this morning, we found our neighbor’s mail strewn up the 136th hill on the curve where those cars park (which is dangerous to those of us going out as it is hard to see oncoming traffic around that curve).  There was more mail on the intersection of 118th & 136th and the mailboxes at the corner of 119th & 136th were all open with more mail on the ground. Just thought you’d like to know.

PLEASE CALL THE US POSTAL SERVICE AT 1 (800) 275-8777 TO REPORT MAIL THEFTS.

Crime In Our Neighborhood

This morning I received the information below from one of our neighbors.  It shows that Porch Pirates and Mail Thieves are actively working our Neighborhood.

****************************************************************************************     I just walked, and found several empty home shopping boxes across from Bob Alston home, on 118th st. east, which I assume were stolen from the addressee on 122nd St. east at 136th ave east.  Also, 2 mailboxes were open, yesterday at John Wenzens next door to us, and today at the Egge home off corner of 134th Ave East and Military.  Both are locking mailboxes and assume they got nothing. Both are the type once door is open there is a keypad type lock inside.  I assume we have thieves  patrolling again..!

Also the new reports of another pit bull on loose on the cul-de-sac (first one off 122nd st. east and Military)  caution to all walkers.

WOULD BE BURGLARS ? PORCH PIRATES ?

Today (5 Jan 2019) I received an alert on my RING app that a young blond woman had approached a home, quickly searched under the doormat then ran away. The home owner speculated that she was searching for keys to the home. If you MUST secrete house keys, please pick somewhere other than under the doormat, flower pot, etc. right near the door.  One thing I did notice was that the homeowner who posted the clip was relying on only the RING video to provide video of people approaching their front door. The video was clear. Unfortunately the RING was situated so that the motion detection triggered too late to show the face of the woman.  It would have been nice if another video camera was positioned so that it would detect motion and record when the woman approached the home and her face was visible.

Also just plain Porch Pirates are getting more active of late. The problem is that police forces frequently do not follow up on complaints because of lack of manpower, lack of evidence, etc .  Therefore the Porch Pirates get a free pass.  One recent report states that at least 23 MILLION Americans have become the victims of these unscrupulous scum. I searched the web for Porch Pirated GPS and found this: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/porch-pirates-police-use-bait-packages-gps-to-catch-thieves/ I hope our local police do something like this.

Apparently Aggressive Dogs on 136th Ave E

I have received information from several neighbors that there are two apparently aggressive dogs running loose in the Neighborhood. This is based on the fact that the dogs ran toward them, barking aggressively.  However the dogs stopped short of contact with the neighbors. The neighbors who contacted me said that the dogs were wearing collars. They were spotted at different times at 11722, 11712, 11602 and 11603 136th Ave. E.  We do not know who the dogs belong to. The owner may not know that the dogs are getting out.

If anyone knows the owner of these dogs please contact me at (253)840-0411 or kahalljr@comcast.net , so that the owner can be informed of the situation. Pictures of the dogs are below.

Package Thieves and Break-Ins

Again we want to remind you that package thieves are more active at this time of the year. With new hires in the package delivery vans, less care seems to be taken to try to hide the package from the street.  One woman wrote that it was one minute from the time the delivery man dropped a package at her neighbors until it was stolen.  Unfortunately, while the person reporting the theft had cameras, they were not pointed to observe the theft, and the neighbor did not have cameras.

This morning I got a notice of an attempted break-in in the Riverside Road area of Puyallup today at 6:45 AM.  The homeowner heard the attempt, and in her own words “grabbed a gun and called the police”.  She said it was no more than 15 minutes after her husband left for work, and speculates that the bad guy was watching her house.  She described the man as white, 6 ft tall with a dark hoodie and pants.

Recent Burglary in Orting

Recently Chanel 7 news reported on a home burglary in Orting.  The home owner had fairly good cameras and was able to provide the police with decent pictures of the man, woman and the vehicle involved in the burglary. Unfortunately the homeowner had not placed a camera looking down the driveway, so that the picture of the vehicle’s license plate is not clear because it was on an angle to the camera.

Because there are decent pictures of the burglars and their vehicle, the chances of catching the bad guys are increased dramatically.
